Congoleum Durastone Flooring

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I purchased the Conguleum product , Durastone Flooring tiles, from a local Freight Liquidators store , located on Main Street Courtland Mannor , NY. One of the main reasons why I purchased this product was because I was informed by the sales rep.

That the product was manufactured by a very reputable company that been around for several decades and that the lifelong limited warranty , covered uneven wearing for a " Life long" period.Recently I noticed that several tiles were wearing unevenly and I contacted the store where I bought the tiles. I was told by a sales rep from that store the he never heard of this product , does not have it in stock , never did have it in stock , does not know who manufacturers the product and will not honor the warranty for those reasons and also because the store changed it's name from Freight liquidators to FL . net several years ago ,making it a new store that they need not honor the warranty offered by the old store. WHAT A CROCK OF *** In my query with reference to this problem I discovered that the store in which I bought the tiles were still listed as a supplier of Conguleum products and that the Durastone brans name has been replaced by a product named Duraceramic.

I contacted the product manufacturer , Coguleum Corp. , on it's web sight and left messages to please call me back with ref. to a product warranty. Never got a call back.

I then wrote my complaint out via their web sight. After several days , low and behold , no answer. I was able to speak to a person in their consumer complaint dept who informed me that when Cogulem Corp. says that a product will last as long as one owns the product , it doesn't mean what it appears to say.

According to Coguleum a " lifetime" means about five years. The person with whom I spoke informed me , after I requested to speak with a supervisor , that he would switch me to the NY office of the consumer complaint dept. After switching my call , the phone rang about twenty times after which a recording came on saying the the person was not at their desk and to call back latter. These companies may have been around for several decades but as of today they are not to be trusted .

I would be extremely hesitate to do business with either business if this is the way they treat their consumers. In my opinion both these companies are not to be trusted and anyone doing business with them should look else where for a more dedicated organization .

I was convinced by our installer that Congoleum Duraceramic was top of the line. However, they installed Ovations and insisted it was Duraceramic.

Within 4.5 years the floor had cracks and deep pits! The finish rubbed off just from a plastic trash can going over it. It took 7.5 months for our complain to be resolved. Partly a subfloor install problem but mostly flooring.

Our installer replaced it, free of charge with Mannington Adura Luxury tile. I hope this works better!

It says something when the area distributor provides a different product than the one being replaced under warranty! This installer went above an beyond to replace the work of a former employee, including a heat gun to remove each tile and a sander to remove glue!

5 years worn through

The picture shows the wear from five years of use in a residence. I installed the tiles and they do work as advertised they are warmer than normal tile and look nice.

They were installed minus the grout lines. Now for the ugly, the sealer does not stay attached tot he tiles after about 1 year and you have to completely seal all the tile lines again. The wear through is horrendous see pictures. I have included pictures of the two extra tiles I kept to prove the manufacture date and show what they look like new.

They do not respond to my warranty claims at all.

Even though I have the original box. If you want to get sucked int o wasting your money like me then buy these if not stay away.

5 years on the floor and my duraceramic flooring is scratched with normal kitchen traffic. I am very disappointed and I contacted Congoleum 4 months ago with absolutely no response whatsoever.

Installed in new home Fall of 2007.

My aunt talked me into this crap when I built my new home in 2007. The installer was a so called reputable tile and carpet company where I live (Wisconsin). They grouted the tile with the Duraceramic premixed grout. The grout is contracting away from the tiles and looks lousy. I went to the company who installed it and the installer came out and said it was a heat problem. He said the Duraceramic in his house had the same problem. Well, that was a lot of comfort. He said I should try to put some grout over the cracked grout and sponge off the excess. Sound feasible? I was originally going to go with regular ceramic. The tiles themselves actually look alright except for marks from dropped kitchen utensils. But the grout looks like crap. Anybody on here have the same problem and found any solutions?

Duraceramic nosing

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I just got my floor installed and having issues from the flooring company. First they come with some nosing that looked like it went threw a meteor shower as it was all scratched up and it had two big screw holes on the top of it so they would end up,screwing the nosing on then They want to install rubber linoleum nosing on my stairs, what does everyone else have on their stairs.

If possible can you post a picture.

I feel like what they are proposing is, cheep and ugly. I just spent 6000.00 on my floor and this is what they are proposing, I called Congoleum and they will not talk to me they say I have to talk to my flooring company

Installed spring 2008. Looked great as I expected.

No problems with installers. Within months noticed a gouge from a dropped cooking utensil. Obviously not a good thing for any floor - passed it off as our fault and vowed to try and fix it some day. I believe I was wrong, as time progressed there were more and more gouges.

It seems that whenever anything not made of rubber was dropped it pierced the top layer resulting in gouges of various sizes. I became disgusted with the product but did not make any attempt at reconciliation with Congoleum - He is a good relation, I gave him my business and he gave a good price. I have had no issues with the install! I thought there were 10 or 15 gouges -wrong, when I got down yesterday to try and repair them I used blue painters to mark them.

There were 56 in 26 tiles, in a diffident pattern of where work was performed - not traffic. This Product has zero impact / puncture resistance! Issue 2: I used plastic gliders under the kitchen table chairs - another mistake on my part. This took time and was gradual, but the result was far worse than the gouging.

The plastic which was smooth to begin with became rough over time - I do not know why, their only home was on this floor. I assume after becoming rough they acted like sandpaper on the floor and took off the top of the raised surface (really nice when new) and left a pure white top layer inner surface. It seems the color in the top layer (which is maybe 1/16 inch thick) is only surface deep (maybe 1/32 inch or less). Doesn't take much abrasion to get down to pure white material.

This floor has zero abrasion resistance! I selected this product because In thought it would be warmer than real ceramic tile - maybe, and softer - yes. Don't purchase this product for endurance - it has ZERO! After looking at the box of unused tile, I noticed this product has a "Lifelong Limited Warranty" - I just may pursue that...

Today I tried 'Roberts' Vinyl Floor Patch Kit on the 60 gouges, yes, I found more. So far they look great - meaning they are invisible! Easy enough, but took most of the day. Time will tell how long they last...

The only way to cure the abrasion that i/ can think of is to replace the 17 affected tiles. Big job for me.

I replace one years ago and it took most of a day trying to scrape the tile cement off the 1/4 inch luan underlayment using blow torch but not too much cause of the wood below and good tiles beside. Came out great.

Worst floor product ever manufactures

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
From day one, we have had issues. We were told it was commercial grade flooring, yeah right. Chips with the slightest item falling on it, scratches and dents from any furniture item. Would rather have a plywood floor. The manufacturer of this product should be ashamed to even put their name on it. Again, worst product ever manufactured in the entire world!!!!

Massive Shrinkage

In 2014, I was told by the local family owned business that this was the latest and greatest in vinyl plank flooring. The "new and innovative" adhesive strips between the planks were supposed to create a water proof barrier. We installed it per the manufactures instructions, carefully measuring and allowing the floor to float around the edges. After three years, all of the seams have pulled apart and have left massive gaps. I have had water leakage through the floor, ruining my basement ceiling. I had it inspected by the company and they gave no refund or satisfaction. I wasted $3000 on this floor. I would never purchase from this company again, nor from the local family owned business who sold it to me. This is an extremely inferior product.

I am a contractor and a customer chose glue less congolium connections This was 4years ago 1st year the butt ends opened a little, now its 4 years old and a majority of the butt ends are open some about a 1/4" The consumer called warranty services an inspector came out blamed it on the installer and the contractor. I have been building homes for 50 years and never seen a defect like this. Warrantys are as good as the company, good company great warranty.

Guest

I had the same problem. Planks gapped at butt ends.

I am contacting warranty services. Don't expect them to do anything about it. But I will try.

This floor was professionally installed 2.5 years ago. The installer was Sherwin Williams flooring.I will update as I get more information

We had the same experience in two homes, one is really terrible all shrinking and coming apart. The other could be fixed with a few planks but recalled cant get any, so I guess we will end up replacing all with a quality product like Shaw.

You described our experience to a tee. We wasted 3600 dollars and got exactly the same results. Purchased at Jabara flooring products.

Congoleum Duraceramic - Beware - not a good product!

We did our entire house in Congoleum Duraceramic Pure White in 2013. Since then, we have experience numerous dents and scratches and have thus far replaced 24 tiles. Looking at the web, we see lots of complaints about this product and that Congoleum has refused to acknowledge any responsibly blaming the home owner for all issues. This is wrong. Dropping a lightweight spoon on the tile should not cause *** in it. Live and learn. Do not buy this product. It looks nice at first, but just is not at all durable. If you look on line, you will see that there is a class action law suit against Congoleum for this product and a law firm, Morgan and Morgan, will investigate your claim and see if they can help you.

Congoleum - Simple Review #1480948287
Should have paid attention to the negative reviews. Within 2 weeks of installation, and being super careful not to drag chairs, etc. across the floor, this brand new Duraceramic is already showing pits. Product is NOT durable. DO NOT BUY.

Duraceramic is awful

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Do not purchase this flooring! I had it installed by a professional installer and it is full of chips. The person who looked at it from Congoleum said it was the fault of my husband and I!!! I don't know how because I don't drop cast iron pans or anything else on it! We paid a very good amount of money for this floor and I thought it would be a great addition to our home. Not so! I am embarrassed to have it in my kitchen and am hopeful to have it replaced in 2017. It is only 5 or 6 years old! This should never have occurred and will not purchase a Congoleum product again.

AVOID Disappointing rubbish waste of time don't buy

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
DURA my *** Ceramic Unless you have unlimited budget, no pride, or are flooring a neighbours house you hate, AVOID AVOID AVOID Product recommended to us as the answer to kitchen flooring, lifetime use, "soft feel" blah blah blah blaaaaaaah. Installed by professional 12 years ago; floor levelled and prepared first, tiles were acclimatised before layed, floor guy was a picky perfectionist. The first weeks were lovely. Then chips, dings, cracking and corners pinging off were the order of the day. Our renovation budget exhausted we were obliged to live with this "lifetime flooring solution" embarrassing *** for years. (Our floor always looked dirty as if we didn't clean up spills, which it wasn't; the explanations were tedious and embarrassing. All our friends know its not us but the *** floor tiles and now have seen the lifted tiles as evidence. We have finally replaced with AMTICO tile flooring. Here's hoping. Wish I had heard of this site before ripping it up - I would have loved to have posted video of this.

Congoleum - Review in Building Products category

I am an installer of Duraceramic and there are certain tricks that I have learned...1 don't install glue with a trowel, best if you install with a 1/2" nap paint roller! 2 regardless of what the manufacturer instillation says, fill all of your seams on your underpayment and make sure that you have a 1 1/4" minimum thickness of subfloor and underlayment! If the substrate moves the floor will crack just like tile!!! 3 I don't even attempt to grout this floor, I stagger and use the seam fill! Hope this helps!!!

Complaint about Dura Ceremic Flooring provided by Congoleum.

Purchased our Dura Ceremic 16" flooring for our newly remodeled home and installed in the Kitchen, Dining, and Utility rooms. Over the years, beginning in the second year (2010), we have called the Company from whom we purchased the flooring to complain about the poor quality of the finish, the chipping (about 20 of them) spots; and scratches (about 25 of them) in the surface; and the dirt spotting in these imperfection areas. Each time we complained to the Store/CCompany they told us two things; 1)that was normal wear and tear of the floor and, 2)since we installed the flooring ourselves there was no warranty. The contractor and I both installed this floor according to specs provided by the Congoleum Company for Dura Ceremic floors. (I did not enlicit the installation services of our local store and saved lots of money by getting my own installer.) The store locally thru which we purchased our Dura Ceremic flooring is The Floor Show, 1475 Associates Dr, Dubuque, Iowa. I feel that the company needs to stand behind their product and offer compensation for defective product. ! Report Spam

Our house flooring was installed in 2011. The flooring is splitting, cracking, and basically self destructing. It was supplied and installed by professional installers.

Please save your money and buy something else.
